Be an Author and Self-Publish E-Books or Books for Free with Draft2Digital

Have you dreamed of being an author someday? Do you have an idea for an e-book or book, but don’t know anyone in the publishing industry? Do you think it would just cost too much to self-publish your e-book or book? Well, if you are an average person with these problems, there is a simple solution for you: Draft2Digital.

Draft2Digital (D2D) is a company that allows you to self-publish your e-book or print-on-demand book, at no cost to you, and without giving up any of the rights to your work. They make money on your e-book or book by taking only a percentage of your profits. By using D2D, they offer distribution to many digital stores and libraries, including the major storefronts such as Amazon (Kindle), Apple, Barnes & Noble (Nook), and Walmart (Rakuten Kobo). You can set your own price, or even make it free (except for at least $.99 on Amazon). You can also have discount specials for your prices, set for a limited time.

All you have to do to submit an e-book or book is to download the cover and manuscript, give a description, list keywords to associate with the work, approve of the final copy (you can choose the theme for its structure), and choose any or all of the digital stores and libraries in which you want to place your book or e-book. Also, the great thing is, you can make changes to anything related to your work, including price, cover, manuscript, description, or chosen stores or libraries, as much and as often as you like, with the changes being made usually within hours, to most places.

All of this is available to you completely for free, and they also offer helpful customer service by phone or e-mail throughout the week.

If you don’t have a cover made for your e-book or book, don’t worry, D2D accepts an image that meets certain parameters, that you can create on Canva (not affiliated with D2D), which is also a free service (with an upgrade available). You can create a cover without spending a lot of time, with templates, images, and fonts that make it professional-looking. Then, all you have to do is click “share” (in the upper right corner), and download, as a JPG or PNG, and save the image, to be able to upload it to D2D.

If all of this sounds too good to be true, I can attest that it is not. I have personally sold about 100 e-books overall (5 different ones) using Draft2Digital and Canva (though, I did not use Canva on Build Your World). You can go to the Free E-Books page on this website to view and order my e-books. While I have made the e-books free to order, I am sure that these services can be used successfully by someone who hopes to sell e-books or books for a profit, assuming there is a market for his or her work.

So go ahead and enjoy the process of writing and selling your own e-book or book. Draft2Digital can handle all of the other work required in distributing it, and making it available to major digital stores and libraries, at no upfront cost, or giving up any rights to your work, allowing you to much more easily live your dream of becoming a successful author.
